Job Summary
A leading organisation within the FMCG manufacturing sector is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team in Midrand. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with operational and production stakeholders while taking ownership of standard costing, inventory analysis, and cost reporting processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering meaningful financial insights that support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. If you enjoy translating complex costing data into actionable business recommendations, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and review standard costing structures across products and production lines.
- Analyse Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure costing accuracy.
- Monitor and report on Work-in-Progress (WIP) balances.
- Perform variance analysis and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare and distribute costing and operational finance reports.
- Assist with inventory management, stock valuations, and stock count processes.
- Partner with production and operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting activities.
Job Experience and Skills Required
- Degree or National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Cost & Management Accounting, or a related field.
- 3-5 years' experience in a Cost Accounting role.
- Essential experience within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Standard Costing methodologies.
- Proven experience with BOM management and WIP analysis.
- Advanced variance analysis and reporting experience.
- Strong report writing and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
