Chief Mine Geologist – Expat Opportunity
Location: Sierra Leone
Rotation: 9/3 weeks or 6/2 weeks
Are you an experienced mining geologist ready to take on a leadership role in a dynamic iron ore operation? We are seeking a Chief Mine Geologist to lead geological activities and ensure optimal ore quality and resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of geologists and technicians.
- Oversee grade control, sampling, and ore-waste delineation.
- Manage geological modelling and reporting using software such as Surpac, Leapfrog, or Vulcan.
- Supervise resource and reserve estimation in compliance with JORC or NI 43-101 standards.
- Design and implement near-mine exploration and drilling programs.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with mine planning, production, and metallurgy teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (Master’s or MBA advantageous).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in mining geology, preferably iron ore.
- 3–5 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proficiency in geological software (Surpac, Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional Geologist accreditation preferred.
- Experience in bulk commodities (hematite or magnetite).
- Ability to train and mentor junior staff.
