Job Summary
Heavy Earthmoving Mechanic needed in Postmasburg.
Millwright Trade Certificate.
Grade 12/N3 Technical Certificate.
Medical Certificate of Fitness.
Valid Driver’s License & Own Vehicle.
All Documents MUST be included with CV.
3 Years minimum working experience on related earth-moving equipment.
Good trouble shooting knowledge on machines & familiar with standard tool requirements.
Good understanding of maintenance philosophy.
Implement the Komatsu Way 5S sorting, organising, cleaning, ordering & training.
Adhere to SHE policies & procedures.
Comply with and instruct colleagues and subordinates staff in the wearing of protective gear & clothing.
Stay informed about emergency first aid kits/fire extinguishers & evacuations procedures.
Operate any vehicles (trucks, car, forklift) within safety standards & procedures, even when not supervised.
Implement safety awareness in all activities.
Report hazardous situations, incidents, or accidents.
Provided feedback on the effectiveness of safety events.
Report equipment that is not in good working order.
Report on vehicle usage & incidents.
Conducts visual machine/equipment inspection – health condition, breakdowns.
Conduct general inspection in terms of appearance, damage, or missing components.
Inspect for leakages, check machine operations, check rust, check for wrong or missing parts, download machine data, identify cracks visually, take samples (oil, coolants, etc.).
Test & adjust faulty components/parts/systems.
Monitor the functionality of the component/equipment & progress made.
Complete daily activity & service reports.
Obtain necessary consumables items/parts/tools from warehouse via approved procedures.
Gain technical advice or approval to replace a part/component.
Execute mechanical/electrical repairs.
Clean equipment/parts/component.
Perform basic welding repairs.
Plan for service of equipment regarding date, workshops, nominations of service, stock & other resources.
Assess work/materials/items/parts required to resolve problem.
Plan and prepare for anticipated service calls in conjunction with leadership.
Plan maintenance for equipment in conjunction with leadership.
Service machines.
Check returns unused consumables stock & parts back into stock.
Report service results & any abnormalities or damage.
Obtain relevant manuals and resources & make this available for execution of work.
Check that tools/equipment required for work are available & in good working order.
Remain abreast of changes/decisions implemented about key issues/problems/improvement.
Order parts & consumables as per plan.
Execute overhaul of equipment according to procedure.
Inspect equipment for compliance & quality.
Report on overhaul job statistics, problems, issues & product feedback.
Complete the component changeout form, commissioning report and customer feedback & warranty certificates.
Plan troubleshooting process of equipment.
Conduct fault finding.
Collects facts about breakdowns.
Measure & compare readings – gauges, multi meters, heat guns, etc. to specifications.
Obtain technical advice on complex troubleshooting & complex repairs.
Check specification values against actual values & recommend repair solutions.
Report fault-finding results & any abnormalities or damage.
Inform the manager and maintenance planning on R&M Care information, schedules & plans
Komatsu machinery experience is a MUST.
