Job Summary
Purpose of the position: To restore damaged vehicles to their pre-accident condition through a combination of metalworking, welding, painting, and assembly skills. The role is essential for ensuring the safety, aesthetics, and overall quality of the repaired vehicles. Please note: This position requires someone with a minimum of 10 years experience in Panel Beating Regular assigned tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Vehicle Repair: Repairing and restoring damaged or deformed vehicle panels and body parts, often caused by accidents or collisions. Panel Replacement: Removing damaged panels and replacing them with new or repaired panels to restore the vehicle''''''''s structural integrity and appearance. Metalwork and Welding: Conducting metalworking tasks, including welding, to repair or reshape damaged metal components of the vehicle. Dent Removal: Using specialized tools and techniques to remove dents and deformations from vehicle panels without causing further damage. Surface Preparation: Preparing surfaces for painting by sanding, grinding, and applying fillers to ensure a smooth and even finish. Priming and Painting: Applying primer to treated surfaces to enhance paint adhesion. Collaborating with painters to ensure accurate color matching and applying paint to restore the vehicle''''''''s appearance . Assembling and Disassembling: Disassembling and reassembling vehicle components, including panels, lights, and trim, as part of the repair process. Alignment and Frame Straightening: Conducting frame straightening and alignment tasks to ensure that the vehicle''''''''s structure meets safety and performance standards. Quality Control: Conducting quality control checks to ensure that repairs meet industry standards and comply with safety regulations. Use of Tools and Equipment: Operating a variety of tools and equipment, including welding machines, grinders, sanders, and other specialized tools relevant to the trade. Collaboration with Estimators: Collaborating with estimators to understand the extent of vehicle damage and the required repairs. Providing input on repair feasibility and potential challenges. Reconciliation and Final Costings: Utilizing panel beating experience and insurance knowledge to perform "recons" (reconstructions) and "final costings" for invoices to be submitted for payment. Work Under Pressure and Hands-On: Must be able to work under pressure and be hands-on in addressing repair tasks efficiently and effectively. Negotiation: Negotiable compensation based on the individual''''''''s experience and knowledge, with consideration given to both factors.
