Job Summary
Description:
Responsible for managing all aspects of moderately complex manufacturing operations. Responsible to deliver results that meet quality, customer service, safety, innovation and cost criteria.
Formulates or approves short- and long-term operating objectives in areas such as cost reduction, quality improvement, new product development and/or integration as undertaken at the plant level.
Manages various plant staff functions such as Human Resources, Finance, Engineering, etc. either directly or indirectly.
Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of technical functions, including, but not limited to:
Manage employees in the Production and Maintenance departments, while working closely with the quality assurance team.
Oversee training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Control usage of casuals; overtime and productivity.
Ensure optimum milling and production of product. A full understanding of the process and the ability to run the plant solo is very important.
Implements and monitor an effective preventative maintenance program.
Track maintenance costs and failure rates.
Establish and maintain food safety plan with specific reference to engineering department
Provides performance data to management and focuses on continuous improvement.
Implement, maintain and control production plan.
Optimum use of machinery.
Provides proper emphasis to product quality and QA sampling requirements.
Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with necessary standards.
Establishes and maintains an effective inventory control program to achieve targets, limit product losses; ensure proper stock rotation
Personally demonstrate a commitment to food and human safety
Knowledge of FSSC 22000 Food safety Management System will be advantageous
Requirements:
Red seal
3 year work experience in a FMCG environment
Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality, safety and food safety incidents
Ability to solve problems/troubleshoot various issues including equipment, safety, quality, sanitation and employee relations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate very strong mechanical aptitude
