Job Summary

Open position : Fitter & Turner
Location : Port Elizabeth
Salary : Market related
Type : Permanent position

Job requirements :
- 10 to 15 years Trade Test Qualification experience in plant and preventative maintenance
- Trade Tested Fitter & Turner
- Technically minded, able to work under pressure and problem solving ability
- Good communication skills
- Able to work overtime on occasion / during peak season
- Prepared to attend additional courses to comply with various Health & Safety OHSA Regulations & company requirements

Duties :
Lathe work
Milling machine
Tooling - Able to build small scale jigs, fixtures, tools and equipment parts
Drawing readings and understanding
Grinding and belt and disc sander
Band saw
Motor and fan bearings
Gear and key slots cutting
Driling, tapping, boring and slots

Sheetmetal and bench works :
Welding works (Arc welding, TIg Welding, Co2 Welding and plasma)
Mild steel and stainless steel
Aluminium
Gas welding and cutting

Sheetmetal work :
Bending, guillotine cutting and rolling
Welding
General spray paint works

Basic hydraulic knowledge :
Cylinders
Motors and pumps
Valves, actuators and hoses
Diagram reading

Pneumatic skills :
Basic understanding of compressed air equipment and compressors
Different valves types
Feed lines
Accumulators
Regulators, filters and gauges
Cylinders and control circuits

General tasks :
Ensure all work is undertaken to a high quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations
Take ownership of work
Maintain performance with minimal supervision
Carry out planned and preventative maintenance
Ordering of materials or parts
Ensure correct tooling and spares supply
Safety valve maintenance
Repairs of general equipment - heating systems, ventilation fans and gas
Mechanical and electrical fault finding
Boiler repairs and operating skills of boiler - coal and diesel
Preparation of coal and diesel boilers for statutory pressure tests
Preparation of various tanks for statutory pressure tests
