CORE PURPOSE OF JOB |

To deliver prompt, quality, effective and efficient circulation services that will meet the customer needs of the Nelson Mandela University community and other Library and Information Services (LIS). To deliver and collect library resources across campus libraries timeously.The ability to carry parcels and boxes .

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS |
|||
|
1. Clearing, re-shelving and retrieving all related library material/resources. 2. Pre-sorting, maintaining the shelving order of the LIS collection. 3. Preparing outgoing crates and mail for posting. 4. Perform courier and messenger duties in and out of campus. 5. Preparing incoming book parcels for Inter-library loans. 6. Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor. |

1. Knowledge of NMU, LIS and departmental policies and procedures. 2. Knowledge of the circulation module of the Integrated Library System to process and transact effectively. 3. Ability to perform under pressure with frequent interruptions/distractions and varying demands of users. 4. Effectively perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. 5. Commitment to excellent customer service. 6. Problem solving skills. 8. Willingness to listen, learn and ability to explain procedures, 9.. Interpersonal skills - willingness to listen, learn and the ability to cultivate goodwill towards library service. |
