Lead the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams
Develop a fundraising team, coordinate and centralize all fundraising across the business.
In cooperation with the CEO, lead the development of any long-term strategy to achieve agreed long term organizational goals
Identify new potential income streams and potential donors, and produce strategies to access these funds
Act on leads from organizational patrons, senior business partners, and existing funders and partners
Deliver fundraising income, and meet set targets
Oversee the management of grant and trust income programmes
Support the fundraising activities within the organization as necessary through production of effective, high quality proposals, and donor reports
Lead on development of new funding streams
Develop and maintain effective relationships with donors and partners for long term retention
Build, manage and develop relationships with clients and donors
Develop and maintain income and expenditure tracking and evaluation systems
Work with the marketing team to ensure a positive public image is maintained to support fundraising and donor communication.
Qualification and Experience:
At least ten years’ successful experience in non-profit fundraising as the/a lead fundraiser in another successful non-profit organization (NGO), University, or educational institution
Demonstrable track record of Strategic Fundraising, with proven track record of bringing in funds from SA corporates and local and international Foundations
Managing a team focused on fundraising initiatives
Experience of utilizing the strength of an organization brand for charity/business development
Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships.
Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in significantly increased income for an organization
Some knowledge of the BBBEE landscape in South Africa, and the ability to learn and adopt new approaches to corporate fundraising that include BBBEE partnerships in a variety of areas including: SED (Socio-Economic Development), ED & SuD (Enterprise and Supplier Development) and SD (Skills Development). Supporting black stockbrokers, consumer education, etc.
The individual should be highly-driven, self-reliant, high-energy, committed, experienced, enduringly optimistic, and able to work within a team environment and manage others where necessary. Ensure alignment to mission and be passionate about helping marginalized individuals improve their lives
