About our client:
Our client exists to facilitate convenient and trusted community transactions through innovative and awesome technology. The mobile app allows parents to easily pay their school for their child's events and other expenses. The mobile app helps schools and teachers by streamlining the cash collection process, eliminating time-consuming and costly collection methods and improving safety.
In 2022 our client will launch a card for children that parents can manage using the mobile app. Parents will be able to load funds onto the card and set controls on spending amounts, channels (online, PoS, ATM), and merchant categories. This will be an innovation for South Africa.
About the position:
Our client is looking for a dynamic and highly productive Business Unit Head to lead their Card product, and grow it rapidly in South Africa. The Unit Head will be supported by a team of experts in sales, customer service, engineering, legal compliance, and financial management. As the Business Unit Head, you will own the full scope of the product offering with the freedom to mould the product vision, define goals, and make decisions using your bird’s eye perspective of all aspects of the product, including customer value proposition, features, pricing, marketing, operations, customer support, finance, reporting, legal, and strategic partnerships.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a successful minimum viable product (MVP) launch in selected schools (dependent on start date)
- Grow the product in the South African market
- Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key strategic partners
- Continually benchmark the Card offering against competitors locally and internationally
- Drive product improvements by coordinating between strategic partners and our client’s team
- Ensure ongoing profitability through the achievement of revenue targets and managing costs
- Resolve customer issues quickly and satisfactorily ensuring that monthly customer ratings remain high
- Develop and manage end-to-end operational process flows and requirements to support effective product management
- Ensure that each quarter you have sufficient staff in the team for the upcoming quarter and that you are never delayed through lack of people resources
- Manage, motivate, and train team members to ensure continuous improvement and performance to targets
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Oversee an effective fraud management programme supported by our client’s finance team
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Experience with CRM systems
- A passion for changing the status quo, with a clear desire to work in a disruptive technology company and a willingness to grow with the company as it expands
- A customer-centric mindset and approach to problem solving
- 4+ years of experience managing a consumer-facing team, ideally in a technology company or retail financial services company
- Ability to understand and apply the legal framework in which our client operates
- Experience working with senior executives of large corporates
- Willing to work hard and get hands dirty
- Adaptable to change and excited to take on new challenges
- Ability to drive a team forward to achieve targets
- Experience in hiring
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
