Language: English first language, Afrikaans an advantage
Qualification: A BSc degree in Agricultural, Plant Physiology, Soil Science or similar.
Experience:
At least 7 years’ experience in agronomy, preferably within KZN.
Agronomic knowledge and experience in crop protection, fertilizer or seed markets will be a major advantage.
Experience in trial work and evaluation an advantage
Ambitious and passionate about agriculture, with strong focus on customer satisfaction, service delivery and problem solving
Must be IT literate, with an aptitude for systems. Experience with M365 will be an advantage but is not a requirement
Duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
As part of the Company’s senior management team, assist in developing the
company’s nutritional strategy and serve the operational side of the business with sound agronomic input.
Determine agronomic strategies that are aligned with the crop advisor, and guide decisions that enhance yield and are economically optimal by:
Placing accurate information in the end users’ hands.
providing insight into agronomic best practise
enhancing agronomic decision making
facilitating sales that are to the farmer’s benefit
enhancing end user relationships
enhancing supplier relationships
Develop relationships with our close channel partners, and provide support to them
Develop relationships and an understanding of how our crop advisors work in certain areas. This pertains to:
Crops produced
Agronomic principles
Agronomic strategies followed
Improving crop knowledge, and information shared.
Identifying knew strategies and products that improve return on investment to the end user.
Work effectively with our current team and be willing to share knowledge and interact in a meaningful team environment. With the above being said you have to be a self-starter and ready to take challenges on as an induvial too. We operate in a flat organisational structure. Each person responsible for the own work.
The Job calls for a hands-on approach, and most information shared and presented will be in front of clients and crop advisors. This requires strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to travel in and around KZN.
Organisational responsibilities:
Compile and distribute reports about crop performance and agronomic practises to clients and crop advisors as required.
Provide in field assessments of on-farm issues that are linked to the performance of healthy crops by using a complete understanding of:
Soil Analysis
Leaf Samples
In field observations
Teamwork with our crop protection technical team.
Ensure absolute accuracy in recommendations
Train and guide team members on newly implemented strategies as well as the basics of agronomy.
Lead our team through new decisions and nutritional strategies
Working with our technical team to disseminate their technical data and findings.
Meeting with suppliers and ensuring the correct information is past to them, and that they understand where FAC is positioned with their products and services.
