Job Summary
Main Role
The Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for looking after the users, all functions of desktop support, and remote support. The incumbent must have basic networking knowledge and be able to do troubleshooting. The Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for everything between the wall jack and the handoff to the internet service provider. To plan, direct and design their company’s IT infrastructure while simultaneously managing the IT team responsible for maintaining that infrastructure.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage Redmine Call tracking ticket system;
- Ensure accurate management of company owned equipment and the issue thereof;
- Ensure Laptops and/or PC’s for new employees are set-up and installed according to management requirements;
- Record data so as to ensure accurate reporting, as and when needed;
- Manage relationship between the IT Department and any Vendors used, regarding access agreements, SLA agreements, policies for support services provided by the infrastructure team;
- Ensure adherence to all standard processes and procedures put in place;
- Ensure implementation of the Business Strategy by remaining abreast of new technologies and selecting the correct technology to assist in ensuring the Business Strategy is adhered to;
- Monitor and report on items such as projects, usage, errors etc. on a monthly basis;
- Manage of Infrastructure Software according to business requirements;
- Manage Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO’s, Share and storage management, reset passwords when required;
- Managing Exchange Server.
Knowledge required:
- Experience with installation of and managing application servers used in software deployments, e.g. Wildfly/Glassfish/Tomcat
- Experience with maintenance around application servers, e.g. cleaning logs and temporary files, ensuring efficient space management
- SSL certificate installation, maintenance and renewal
- Reverse proxy installation and maintenance e.g. NGINX
- Experience in a load-balanced environment and setup thereof
- Job scheduling
- Application and endpoint security, e.g. firewalls, security patches, RESTful architecture/security tokens and advising thereof, SSO
- Any CI/CD and pipeline experience would be helpful e.g. Jenkins
- Asterix FreePBX, VOIP, Yealink IP phones, FOP2 (Call Center queueing tool), and Asternic Call Center Stats portal;
- Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO’s, Share and storage management, reset passwords when required;
- UniFi wireless network;
- MobiSys SMS Gateway for bulk sms;
- Kaspersky Security Center 12;
- CompleteFTP Manager (SFTP);
- BrightSparks Syncback Pro;
- Exchange Server 2013 and Office365, Mail relays – Mdaemon;
- Basic knowledge of MAC, iOS, Android;
- Must be familiar with Nutanix and Amazon-LightSail;
- Basic knowledge of Yealink VC’s, Zoom, MS Teams;
- Forticlient VPN;
- Must be familiar with cloud hosted domains;
- EXSI VMWare, Experience in managing Windows Servers, 2003, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019
- Must have solid experience in terms of Linux: Centos, RedHat, UBUNTU. Oracle Installation and Basic Setup of Oracle
- Linux docker containers.
Qualifications
- Grade 12;
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a similar field;
- A+, N+, MCSE certification.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 5 years’ minimum experience in an IT Support role.
Desirable
- Experience in the Medical insurance / Medical aid / Insurance industries.
