Job Summary
Required skills & abilities:
- Tertiary qualifications Diploma / B.Com or accounting studies
- Experience and understanding a manufacturing environment with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Prior experience in dealing with large books for debtors and creditors
- To be able to work to Trial Balance
- Proficient working knowledge of foreign transactions (debtors/creditors/banking)
- Computer literacy Excel proficiency and previous experience in Pastel advantageous
- Strong administration and organization skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to work in a team and independently
- In a calm, confident manner to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations.
- Sound decision-making and business judgment
- Ability to learn and adapt on the job
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
- Willing to ask when in need of help and assistance
Key Performance:
Facilitate the full bookkeeping function from -
- General accruals and monthly journals
- Cashbook
- Maintaining regular cashbook and bank reconciliations
- Accurately posting and processing of the cashbook
- Understanding of foreign transactions (debtors / creditors / cashbook)
- Debtors management
- Customer liaison, recons, statements, queries, and debt collections
- Creditors management
- Supplier recons, preparation of payments, queries short deliveries, quantities
following up etc
- Trial Balance
- Identifying and rectifying issues at an early stage.
- Financial information is accurate, reliable monthly
- Coordinate and liaise with the various departments (internal and sister company controllers)
as well as with suppliers and customers
- Work with external audits at year-end and provide ad hoc information as required
- Maintaining and ensuring complete administration files and supporting documentation
