Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a plastics and packaging Slitting Operator for a manufacturing facility in eThekwini, Durban, Kwazulu Natal. This is a permanent position with benefits. Experience in FMCG, Food Manufacturing and Production environment essential. Salary is market related, and there will be overtime.

Minimum Requirements:

• 3 years of experience operating Plastic / Packaging / Metalizer machinery in a converting machinery environment
• Food Safety Certificate
• Grade 12 with Maths and English
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
• Ability to be self-directed and multitask
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to lead and manage the performance of others
• Timeliness
• Ability to obtain overhead crane license and operate overhead crane
• Must be able to work overtime on request
• Must have a valid transport – required to work shifts

Duties:

Operate Met/Slitter to:

• Fill machine checklist
• Fill crane check list
• Refer to Met Slit Plan and arrange paper cores
• Produce as per target
• Perform efficient Met Slitter Operation
• Check 6 inch & 3-inch chuck condition and reporting to SIC for repairing
• Check winding roller and clean them at the start of shift
• Ensure control of metallized film waste as per target
• Suggest and make at least One Kaizen per month
• Report unsafe conditions and behavior to assist in Zero Safety incident
• Maintain 5S of Slitter and & waste gallery
• Sort aluminium cores as per sizes and check their condition
• Ensure correct Data entry
• Record run conditions, material condition and machine performance on your production logbook
• Keep on line inspection
• Wrap the slit roll with Stretch film, Metallized film, bubble film
• Weighing scale calibration on daily basis
• Check quality of rolls produced and mark any defect on the roll before placing on feed
• Efficient operation of packaging and plastics slitting conveyors
• Confirm RFID check points before allowing rolls to move into conveyor scale
• Ensure all pallet have RFID tag on them
• Report production at the end of shift to your SIC
• Train slitter assistant
• Plant Startup
• Roll Loading
• Drive section cleaning
• Threading of Film
• Evaporation (Boat) section cleaning
• Metallization Process
• Roll unloading
• Boat Change
• Wetting of New Boats
• Handling used boats and sludge waste
• Handling Aluminium wire waste
• Handling Met film waste
• Trouble shooting under supervision of SIC and Metalizer Operator
• Maintain the O.D card month wise
• Identification of Logbooks
• Data entry
• Follow the WI
