Large and well-established group in the agriculture sector is on the lookout for and a motivated and experienced Management Accountant. This group has interests across the country and this role will be situated in Port Elizabeth.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates having completed SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA articles with post articles experience to gain experience and add value to a company in an established and flourishing industry.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ years’ post-articles experience in a similar role and commercial or article exposure within the agriculture, citrus, processing, or production environment will be highly beneficial.

The candidate will perform the duties normally associated with an accounting and management accounting role, however will also directly support the General Manager in areas such as finance, risk, internal control improvements and data accuracy. The incumbent will also take responsibility of managing the accounting team and effecting process improvements. Thus, this role is an opportunity to enhance accounting and finance skills, but also to get involved in a more operational capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accounting and capture of monthly nominal ledger and trial balance preparation.
• Compile monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset register.
• Depreciation calculation and journal entries.
• Authorisation of banking payments (shared responsibility).
• Load all bank payments.
• Monthly debit order check.
• Calculate, complete and submit VAT return.
• Reconcile inventory control by comparing to the inventory accounts.
• Capture all the inventories in the system.
• Develop inventory journal entry to document inventory transactions.
• Ensure to check inventory sheet of goods received & stock issue notes.
• Responsible for matching invoices to statements.
• Reviewing of incoming post.
• Matching purchasing orders to supplier invoices received.
• Review payments to suppliers/creditors and loaded batches for payments.
• Reviewing of creditor recons performed every month.
• Evaluate rates and taxes.
• Expense claim reconciliation and payment.
• Reviewing of weekly producer statement.
• Ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or similar.
• Completed SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA articles preferred.
• PA(SA), CA(SA), AGA(SA) or CIMA designation highly advantageous.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience.
• MS Excel skills essential.
• Agriculture of Citrus experience beneficial.

Remuneration:

• R420,000 to R600,000 per annum, negotiable on experience and qualifications.
