Job Summary
Our client in the Agricultural industry based in Patensie, has a position available for an Assistant Production Manager at their Farm.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 /Matric
- A degree, diploma or certificate in Agricultural or Business Sciences would be preferred, but lack thereof is not disqualifying.
- Ability to work well with general workforce.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Production Manager is required to manage satellite farming units during periods of leave of the respective Production Manager.
- Stationed mainly in Patensie, the Assistant Production Manager may be required to travel to other areas to work on specific projects.
- The incumbent must also be willing to work extra hours to perform tasks like spraying at night time.
Citrus Production
- Implement the set Irrigation and Fertilizer programmes.
- Integrate Pest Management (IPM) – Responsible for monitoring for pest with assistance of scouts and implementing the prescribed protection programmes such as spraying, baiting and biological controls
- Orchard maintenance – The control of weeds, pruning and repair of netting.
- Harvesting – Manage the harvest teams, coordinate resources (bins etc). and manage the hostel housing seasonal workers.
- Day-to-day management of the work teams to perform various tasks.
General Maintenance and Development
- Required to support all maintenance and new development activities under taken by the group. This function is required for all production areas.
