A purpose-driven luxury hospitality and conservation company operating across Africa is seeking an experienced MANAGING DIRECTOR to lead its Botswana operations This executive leadership role requires a commercially astute, strategically minded, and values-driven leader with proven experience leading complex, multi-site, service-driven operations. The successful candidate will drive sustainable growth, operational excellence, financial performance, and guest experience standards while supporting broader conservation and community objectives. The role is best suited to a resilient executive who thrives in dynamic and operationally demanding environments. Core Criteria: Postgraduate qualification in Business Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field Minimum 15 years’ experience within the private sector, of which 10 should be senior operational leadership experience Proven Managing Director, CEO, COO, Regional Director, or equivalent executive leadership experience Demonstrated full P&L ownership and strong commercial acumen Strong track record of driving profitability, operational performance, and sustainable business growth Proven experience leading complex, multi-site operations within hospitality, tourism, luxury services, or similarly service-driven industries Experience operating within Africa, emerging markets, or frontier-market environments advantageous Strong strategic leadership capability with the ability to translate vision into operational execution Experience engaging with Boards and executive-level stakeholders Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills Strong analytical thinking, financial management, and problem-solving ability High emotional intelligence, resilience, and people leadership capability Values-driven leadership style with strong integrity and sound judgement Passion for service excellence, conservation, sustainability, and community impact Comfortable operating in remote, logistically complex, and fast-paced environments Advanced MS Office and Excel proficiency Core Responsibilities: Lead and execute the country strategy in alignment with broader organisational objectives Drive commercial growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and overall business performance Provide executive oversight across multi-site operations within a complex hospitality environment Ensure exceptional guest experiences and premium service standards across all operations Develop and implement strategic growth initiatives and operational improvement plans Oversee financial performance, budgeting, cost management, reporting, and resource optimisation Provide regular operational, financial, governance, and strategic reporting to executive leadership and the Board Lead; mentor, and develop a high-performing senior leadership team Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and purpose-driven leadership Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, local communities, and industry representatives Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, operational standards, and legal requirements Support and strengthen the organisation’s conservation, sustainability, and community impact objectives Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and long-term business sustainability Lead business decision-making within dynamic and operationally demanding environments On Offer: Competitive executive-level remuneration package Opportunity to lead a purpose-driven luxury hospitality and conservation business Executive leadership role within a highly respected and internationally recognised brand Long-term strategic leadership opportunity with significant operational and legacy impact Based in Maun, Botswana Candidate must be willing to relocate at own cost No company-provided accommodation or housing allowance Medical aid and provident fund participation are compulsory Generous annual leave structure Employment subject to successful Botswana work permit and immigration approval processes
