CORE PURPOSE OF JOB |
● To assist with the development and operationalisation of the Health Professions Education Centre within the Faculty of Health Sciences ● To promote excellence in Health Professions Education through robust scholarship within the field of Higher Education studies ● To offer programs that develop knowledge and practice in instructional design, learning and teaching and assessment aligned to the Faculty’s educational philosophy, vision, mission and strategic objectives ● To facilitate implementation of innovative and responsive Health Sciences curricula, based on an integrative and transformative professional education and research philosophy ● To work closely, on behalf of the Faculty, with all key Health Education stakeholders ● Active participation in the development of the HPE unit as well as the Faculty IPE program. |

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
|
Education Relevant PhD in a related Health Sciences or Education field. Formal post-graduate qualification in Health Sciences Education, or Education. Registered with a Professional Council as a Health Professional will be an advantage. Experience and skills Minimum of 3 to 7 years’ experience as a Health Sciences Educator and/or Manager at a Higher education institution. Experience in working with both national and Provincial Departments of Health, Department of Higher Education and Training, and Professional Councils will be an advantage. Experience in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice methodology and in teaching in a Community-oriented curriculum will be an advantage. Higher education Proven track record of establishing, implementing and managing related educational reform projects. Experience in program development and accreditation. Experience in instructional design and technology-facilitated learning. Experience in all aspects of project management in Higher Education institutions. Experience with costing and managing budgets. Proven track record of research and publications in health professions education or education. |
