Job Summary
Our client, an international freight company, is currently looking to employ an experienced Senior Air & Sea Freight Controller (Please note this is an EE appointment).
Key Responsibilities
- Daily status reports between 6:30 – 8:30
- Sea and air freight entries
- Estimates Sea – Import & Export as well as Road Freight
- New shipment requests (EXW / FOB – SRN creation)
- Clearance & Delivery on C&D clients (inclusive of status reports daily)
- Invoicing - Special Billings
- Bookings with various shipping lines
- Transport arrangements for collection & delivery (inbound as well as out)
- Customs entries on Export shipments
- Fumigation arrangements for Exports to required destinations
- Liaising with local clients regarding cargo readiness and updating CRM & Consignee
- Registration of House & Master bills on FTS
- Loading of Charges on FTS for payment of Invoices
- Requesting charges to be actualized on the system by Palma after capturing
- Requesting credit approvals on accounts
- Requesting ANF’s, Line charges daily
- Following up on shipments from Origin
- Quoting Clients and internal staff in Import and export shipments; arranging all import /export collections
- Booking shipment with our agent for collection
- Compiling month end shipment reports
- Compiling invoices on a daily basis
- Tracking and tracing all inbound and outbound shipments daily
- Costing out shipment, arranging clearance of the shipment
- Controlling all the import and export shipments
- Arrange customs clearing of shipments
- Arrange delivery of cargo to final destination (Imports)
- Booking of export shipments with shipping lines.
- Ensuring all documents are received to ensure no delays with customs clearance
- Up-date clients on progress of orders.
- Up-dating clients on progress of shipments
- Resolve air/road freight queries from agents/clients/ internal clients.
- Estimates and rates proposals
- Approving creditors invoices
- Issuing exports documents
- To oversee and support National Freight Team
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum requirement is a Matric (Grade 12) Relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous
- MS Office proficient
- At least 3 years working experience within a similar role in the Freight (Air, Sea and Road) industry
- Familiar with customs tariffs and port charges
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport

- Arrange same day pick ups at origin

- Co-ordinate with suppliers on pick ups
- Freight – liase with freight team for estimates, updates etc
- Check estimates
- Create document packs – express and freight
- Re-send invoice packs on queries – match up with supplier invoices
- Credits for incorrect billings
- Manually attach customs docs to shipments before delivery
- Request VOC’s
- Read customs docs, approve clearances & TH’s
- Consolidate and Split shipments
- Pull customs docs from IA
- Request invoices from suppliers
- Track shipments directly on agent websites
- Arrange pick ups from African Agents that aren’t integrated with IA
- Mail doc packs to clients on day of delivery
