Our client which is an NGO focused on economic development is looking for a Senior National Programme manager for a Human Capital Development Project which focuses on developing the skills of those who benefit from social grants to link them to economic opportunities through either employment or business ventures. Improving people’s skills, health, knowledge, by helping them find employment and/or entrepreneurship opportunities

The National Programme Manager will manage the implementation of the project and monitor the project’s milestones. The project will be implemented in three pilot provinces in South Africa and it will run for three years

Role:

• Provide input into the development of the implementation plan
• Programme implementation management and monitoring at a national level
• Manage Business Development Manager and Provincial Coordinators and support them to develop site implementation plans
• Monitor the progress of implementation against the project plan and budget
• Engage with key stakeholders from local, provincial, and national levels in collaboration with the Project lead
• Extract learnings from the programs implementation to support policy agenda, the implementation framework and the sustainability of the initiative
• Manage all reporting requirements to the project team and other key stakeholders as is defined in the project
• Ensure the on-time and full delivery of the project and develop a framework to support the sustainability of the project
• Ensure continuous monitoring and evaluation to support the success of the project
• Develop and implement a stakeholder management process adopted by all stakeholders

Essential skills and qualifications

1. A Master’s degree in Business, Project management or related field with at least 5 years in day- to-day project management; OR a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management or related field together with at least 10 years’ experience in day-to-day project management
2. Prior experience in coordinating large projects and engaging with stakeholder in the private and public sector at a provincial and National level (projects must have been in social and or economic development)

In addition to this candidates must have:

• Experience in programme management at senior level
• Experience in stakeholder management
• Excellent communication, written and verbal skills in English is essential
• Excellent computer literacy, including research and report writing skills
