A rapidly expanding local and international accounting and consultancy firm is seeking to employ a vibrant and ambitious Bookkeeper at their offices in Somerset West.

This is a good role for someone with bookkeeping experience, preferably in a practice environment, wanting to gain further experience withing an accounting practice with ample opportunities to receive on the job training and the strong possibility for growth within the business.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the bookkeeping of a portfolio of clients under the supervision of senior accountants, managing of senior accountant workflows, liaising with clients, requesting and gathering documentation, and other related duties, supporting both the South African and UK offices.

The firm is looking for ethically sound candidates, wanting to perform tasks the right way first time around and someone who wants a long-term career at the firm.

Training will be provided on all required duties as listed below.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Bookkeeping up to trial balance.
• Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department.
• Assist with reconciliations.
• Payroll preparation.
• Statutory reporting.
• Requesting of financial documents.
• Updating financial records.
• Sorting and filing of financial records.
• Preparing reports.
• Client liaison.
• Client service delivery and query resolution.
• Oversee the onboarding of new clients.
• Updating and maintaining of existing client records.
• Correspond with clients re their accounts, balances and payments.
• Data capture and data collection.
• System updates.
• Scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
• Ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Matric with solid results.
• Diploma, degree, certificate in finance or related field will be advantageous.
• Bookkeeping or accounting experience in an accounting firm.
• Accounting administration related experience.
• Working experience on accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Pastel.
• Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook proficiency preferred.

Remuneration:

• R8,000 to R15,000 pm ctc, depending on qualification and experience.

Our client is seeking an experienced Debtors Controller for a contract role available at their company in Durbanville, Cape Town

Qualifications

• Diploma in bookkeeping or equivalent
• Matric/ Grade 12 with accounting, or equivalent

Experience/ Industry Knowledge

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in debtors clerk function
• Computer literacy & strong reconciliation skills Previous experience on ERP System
• Banking and accounts administrator experience

Duties will include:

• Resolution of customer queries
• Debtors age analysis to balance to the GL
• Balancing of debtors account at month end
• Daily bank deposits to be entered and allocated and or checked
• Processing of credit notes and journal entries and or reviewing and approval of entries via system workflows
• Allocate payment to correct debtors account
• Process journal entries
• Finalise and manage debtor refund process (journals and payments)

Our client, a niche manufacturing company, in Somerset West, seeks to urgently employ a Junior Bookkeeper to join their team.

Please Note: You MUST be resident in the Somerset West or surrounding area and those who are able to start immediately will receive preference.

KEY REQUIREMENTS TO MEET FOR CONSIDERATION

• You will have completed Matric, with Accounting as a subject, coupled with 2-3 years experience Debtors, Creditors, Payroll, VAT and TAx submissions, as well as managing stock accounts, journals and managing the company's insurance and fleet accounts.
• You will have solid skills on Pastel and Excel
• You must be able to work independently, be process driven, communicate effectively and be methodical and precise in your quality of work.
• You will have your own reliable transport, as well as a clear credit and criminal record.
