Great, so who would be a good fit?
We are looking for a Commercial Attorney and legal professional to provide legal advice, contribute toward the strategy and support the entire group of companies. This person will ensure best legal practices and mitigate legal risk on behalf of the Group, as well as be the custodian of our in-depth legal and business-focused strategy. This role is ideal for someone who questions traditional legal practices and finds innovative ways to ensure the Group conforms to legislation, but by embracing the new and not necessarily focusing on the old. Someone who embraces different thinking, researches new legal trends and structures approaches that work with the organisation. We want you to deliver legal advice that helps the business to accomplish their strategy.
You may be wondering, what would such a fantastic individual’s duties include?
- The Commercial Legal Advisor is responsible for providing proactive, in-depth legal and business-focused advice and analysing and identifying the legal risks and implications of all the business’ transactions within area of responsibility;
- Is required to perform a wide variety of tasks and duties that include, but are not limited to, drafting of contracts (which include but are not limited to Non-Disclosure / Confidentiality Agreements; Memorandums of Understanding; Lease Agreements; Credit Applications; All other types of agreements), review of contracts, legal research, administration and compliance with applicable laws;
- Respond and resolve ad hoc legal queries timeously and effectively;
- Negotiate terms and conditions;
- Managing and working with outside council as and when required;
- Company secretarial services including but not limited to: Board and Shareholder resolutions; Interpretation and administration of Shareholder Agreements; Maintain Company documents;
- Interact with Board Members and Shareholders;
- Maintain Registers associated with Company requirements;
- Assist the following departments complying with legal requirements: Human Resources;
- Assist the Group with: Contract Administration, Reviewing and drafting of Company Policies and Procedures, and;
- Be flexible about your work and assist with other functions if and when required.

- Tertiary qualification; LLB, Commercial Law or a similar field.
- Knowledge of Industrial Legislation;
- Admitted Attorney;
- 5-7 Years' post admission experience either in Practice - Specializing in Companies Act, Labour Law or as an In-house legal counsel for similar type of industry.
- Experience in Insurance Law (advantageous).
- Proven excellence in your previous endeavors.
