Job Summary

The role requires a combination of excellent analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyse financial reports and forecasts. Experience collaborating with and/or managing a team of Accountants is key.

The Person:

CA (SA).
Proven experience in a related finance role, at least 2 years post articles experience.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and tax compliance.
In-depth understanding of GAAP and IFRS.
Awareness of business trends.
Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and Pivot tables.

Non-Negotiable Finance Technical Skills:

Draft IFRS annual financial statements.
Draft monthly management accounts.
Draft income tax (current and deferred tax) calculation.
Analyse transactions and data in Excel.

The Job:

Accounting:

Verify, allocate, post and reconcile certain entries as directed by the Manager.
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
Analyse financial information and summarise financial status.
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
Support month-end and year-end close process.
Participate in the budgeting and forecast process.

Reporting and Standards:

Provide technical support and advice on accounting treatments.
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
Ensure compliance with Group Valuation Policies and IFRS.
Liaise with financial management to improve financial procedures.
Prepare information required for group reporting and handle queries.

External Reporting and Compliance:

Prepare annual IFRS financial statements and answer queries.
Prepare first draft tax returns and estimations.
Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
Direct external audits to ensure compliance.
Direct the submissions to Stats SA.
