Junior Accountant
Salary – R 25 000.00 per month, Cost to Company
Working hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 – 17:00 and overtime when needed
Our client a reputable multi-national manufacturing company has an opportunity for a Junior Accountant to join their firm in Roodepoort, JHB area.

Minimum requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- BCOM Accounting degree and/or Articles (Completed or in the progress)
- Syspro – would be an advantage
- Accounts Payable experience
Duties will include but is not limited to:

- Reconciliations and Journals:
- Maintenance of the general ledgers for various companies within the group
- Accurate, timeous, and consistent processing of general ledger accounting entries, including salaries and wages journals
- Processing month-end journals entries and review of the trial balances for various companies in the group
- Updating and maintaining General Ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis including inter-company loan accounts and reconciliations of clearing accounts
- Maintenance of accrual/ provision balances and ensuring completeness of these investigating and resolving accounting queries
- Assist with the month end accounting close process
- Prepare weekly wages for review
- Prepare and review company credit cards.
- Review of creditors recon for local creditors (+/- 200 per month)
- Review foreign creditors recons
- Review inter-branch accounts
- Review and approve costings for foreign creditors
- Follow up with suppliers and other branches to sort out queries on recons timeously
- Assist the creditors team to solve queries
- Load payments on the bank
- Review and maintain supplier master data on Syspro
- Load beneficiaries on Nedbank
- Load foreign beneficiaries on Ned Treasury
- Load foreign payments on Ned treasury
- Submit weekly and monthly cash flow projection for payments
- Review age analysis to ensure suppliers are up to date
- Ad-Hoc duties
- Reporting:
- Preparation of management accounts for various entities within the group
- Statutory/Legal Compliance/Audit Support and Compliance:
- Manage and conduct month-end and year-end statutory requirements
- Ensure compliance to accounting standards and other regulatory bodies in how transactions are accounted for
- Support the year end and interim audit process
- Fixed assets:
- Ensuring the fixed asset register is kept updated on a regular basis
- Account for additions and disposals
- Conducting a fixed asset count for various entities within the group annually
- Internal controls:
- Ensure that strong internal controls are being maintained to help ensure the reliability of the financial statements
- Monitoring and improvement of internal controls
- Other:
- Conduct petty cash counts and review and sign off petty cash recons on a regular basis
- Attending and auditing stock counts for various entities within the group
- Monitoring, processing, and reconciling all insurance claims
- Assisting with the review of creditors reconciliations
- All other ad-hoc duties directed by the group financial manager
