The stock must be taken every month-end and forwarded to the relevant parties.
A technician is responsible for performing site inspections and handing over completed site inspections to the relevant person/s. If necessary, a technician will deliver goods/stock to site. A technician must be able to install both prepaid and conventional meters - single phase and poly phase, directly connected and transformer connected. A technician will be responsible for the commissioning and sealing of all the meters, and correctly capturing all data for administrative purposes.
A technician will ensure all conventional meter readings, read by him/her are submitted to head office no later than the predetermined due date. This includes all additional equipment especially with regards to AMR systems. A technician will ensure all conventional meter readings, read by him/her, are read by the prescribed date. The reading period will not be longer than 33 days or shorter than 27 days. A technician will, where requested, perform site audits to ensure all metering installations are functioning correctly. A technician will, when necessary, liaise with counsel to ensure that all sites have, where possible, a continuous electricity supply. A technician will perform meter accuracy verification tests. A technician will perform energy data logging tests. A technician will continuously do site inspections to ensure meter are not bypassed or tampered with. All meters must be visited at least once every 2 years. A technician is responsible to assist in the updating and maintaining of the Syntell and Promun database which will include unit numbers, meter numbers and seal numbers.
While on standby duty, a technician will ensure all calls are answered, and where the responsibility lies with PMD, that is, meter faults and kiosk circuit breakers tripping, ensure electricity is restored urgently and the meter installation are functioning correctly.
A technician must ensure compliance with the occupational health and safety act of South Africa while performing all work duties.
A technician must perform all requested duties to ensure maximum profitability as prescribed by technical supervisor.
Knowledge of electricity and metering
Should be able to utilize various electrical equipment like multimeter and megger
N3-N6 Or National Diploma (Electrical Engineering-Heavy Current) or B-tech
Additional electrical qualifications (meter training course, trade, wiremen’s license)
Code 08 driver’s license
Needs to know how to read electrical drawings and identify electrical symbols.
