As Fixed Plant Urgent Work Coordinator Mechanical, you will be required to lead the Urgent Work crew which consists of all relevant mechanical trades. Additional responsibilities will be to maintain and assist in the operation of fixed plant installations, equipment and systems according to sound engineering practice for equipment and installation specifications. Qualifications required
Grade 12 certificate or relevant national NQF level qualification.
Trade Certificate: Mechanical
Code B Driver’s License
A supervisory qualification would be advantageous
Experience Required:
3+ Years of continuous experience as an Artisan in a Shafts & Fixed Plant Infrastructure systems. With relative maintenance experience in maintaining Koepe Winders, BAC, Main Ventilation Fans, dewatering systems and ground handling systems
Minimum of 3 years previous experience in maintenance and installation supervision of Shafts & Surface Infrastructure. With relative maintenance experience in maintaining Koepe Winders, BAC, Main Ventilation Fans, dewatering systems and ground handling systems
Written and verbal communication skills
Budgeting and cost control
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Proficiency in SAP will be advantageous
Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground - The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric and technical assessments and security clearance
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides input to and updates the overall engineering plan for maintenance and repair of mechanical infrastructure, equipment and machinery to support the operations.
Planning of activities in accordance with production schedules and allocation of resources as required.
Effective communication to relevant stakeholders to minimize production delays.
Investigate, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance and repair of mechanical infrastructure, equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements.
Attend to defects raised on pre-start reports, breakdown sheets and over-inspection reports
Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health & Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Line Manager
Perform mechanical infrastructure and equipment over-inspection on work done by artisans and operators
Provide relevant feedback to the Supervisor and co-workers regarding mechanical infrastructure and equipment performance and conditions.
Carry out scheduled and non-scheduled mechanical infrastructure and equipment repairs and installation.
Discuss work backlog and future work requirements with the Line Manager
Identify spares requirements and order accordingly
Analyse and interpret maintenance-related data and initiate required improvements.
Ensure compliance to the business’ engineering planning standards, guidelines, specifications and best practices.
Coordinate mechanical infrastructure and equipment installations and maintenance with internal and external clients and service providers to ensure the timeous allocation of resources and that due process is followed and required measures are taken to ensure execution takes place according to plan.
