How to set up your own Regret Texts…

Job Mail has made it quick and easy for you to respond to applicants that are not right for the job with our Regret texts feature.

You can prepare and set up different “regret” texts in advance to send to different types of applicants. See below a few handy examples…

To use this tool, select the type of regret text that you’ve already compiled and set up at the bottom of each “Applicant Subject” on every job application you receive.

Example 1: You were not selected for further consideration

We appreciate your interest in (Company Name) and the position for which you applied. After reviewing the applications received by the deadline, yours was not selected for further consideration.

The selection committee appreciates the time you invested in your application. We encourage you to apply for posted and advertised positions in our company, for which you qualify, in the future.

We wish you every personal and professional success with your job search and in the future. Thank you, again, for your interest in our company.

Example 2: We received many applications and will not be offering you an interview (1)

We appreciate that you took the time to apply for the position of (name of position) with our company. We received applications from many people. After reviewing your submitted application materials, we have decided that we will not offer you an interview.

We appreciate that you are interested in our company. Please do apply again in the future should you see a job posting for which you qualify.

Again, thank you for applying. We wish you all the best.

Example 3: We received many applications and will not be offering you an interview (2)

Thank you for your application for the position of (insert position) at (company name). As you can imagine, we received a large number of applications. I am sorry to inform you that you have not been selected for an interview for this position.

The (company name) thanks you for the time you invested to apply for the (name of job) position. We encourage you to apply for future openings for which you qualify.

Best wishes for a successful job search. Thank you, again, for your interest in our company.

Example 4: We’ve found a more qualified candidate

We interviewed a number of candidates for the (name of job) position, and we have determined that another candidate is the most qualified for the requirements of our opening. This letter is to let you know that you have not been selected for the position.

Thank you for taking the time to come to (Company Name) to meet our interview team. The team enjoyed meeting you and our discussions.

We wish you success with your job search and in the future. Thank you for your interest in our organization.

Example 5: Come for an interview for one of our other jobs

We interviewed a number of candidates for the (name of job) position, and we have decided to offer another applicant the position. This letter is to let you know that you were not selected for the position for which you applied.

The interview committee was impressed with your credentials and experience. We’re offering you the opportunity to interview for a second job opening as a (job title) in our company. Enclosed is a position description for your review.

If you decide you are interested in talking with us about this second opening, please call or email (name) and we will schedule an interview at your earliest convenience. We are currently doing first round interviews for this position.

Thank you so much for taking the time to come to (company name) to meet our interview team. We enjoyed meeting you and our discussions.

Whatever you decide about interviewing for this second job opening, please feel free to apply for posted positions, for which you qualify, in our company in the future.
