How to assess The Currently Employed Job Seeker
The interview process is one that is often met with dread from both sides of the table. Recruiters and employers alike; worry about finding the right candidate. Job seekers worry about performing well. Many a time, the stress of performing well leads a job seeker to embellish the truth in interviews. Bad habits are disguised and not revealed to the interviewer for obvious reasons. Job Mail has included a few points on how recruiters can ask the RIGHT questions to find out about their present status and their ability based on their current work performance.
- Pose questions that are related to what responsibility the candidate is given. If he/she states they are responsible in a management capacity for things, then they should not have a problem with the interviewer probing.
- Does the candidate talk positively about the company? Remember some negativity is allowed, hence why the candidate is looking for another job; but also remember that company being spoken about could be you.
- Ask the candidate if they work overtime at their present company; and what they expect from the company when working overtime. This is will allow the recruiter to get a glimpse into the candidates’ contribution level to their current company.
- Remember it’s ok to ask one direct question about the candidates’ present company. A short but relevant question is “What don’t you like about xyz Company?” Judging from the answer; once can ascertain what type of employee you are interviewing. If the candidate is very negative and restricts him/herself to one-side thinking, then chances are they are not a good option for the company.
